I have 3+ years of experience in content strategy & copywriting and a wealth of experience in continuously applying for jobs in this economy since the past year.

TL;DR: I love the art of advertising, marketing, and communication. I thrive when I am working. I want work.

I started interning at the age of 16, helping people out with their websites and Facebook pages back when that was the big thing. The rush I felt seeing my words published alongside someone else's visual work—knowing I could hide behind the comfortable role of "Content Writer"—was incredibly fulfilling.

Fast forward to 2019, I started my first permanent role. A person's very first 9-to-5 is so exciting. It’s the feeling of learning what a Provident Fund is, realizing that deadlines actually affect real businesses, and learning that being professional also means being kind and building trust. I was soon entrusted with writing content for over 10 brands. I learned paid media and SEO, sat in on client meetings, groaned over feedback with the social media executives, and exchanged ideas with a lovely content team. It was enthralling, to say the least. I was adulting.

Between 2020 and 2022, as the world upended all its rules, the itch for more amidst the Constant Creative Chaos persisted. I stepped into a role as a Senior Creative Executive. The word "executive" exuded a sense of importance. I got to work with some of the most brilliant minds in the agency, handled bigger brands, and was encouraged to pitch my first content strategy. I remember the nerves of being the only one with my camera on, speaking through a 10-slide presentation. But that gentle nudge from my supervisor helped me nail it—leaving the client convinced and asking us to roll out the formats ASAP! That experience made me want to delve into the absolute depths of strategic marketing.

A diploma and a year of relearning the finer rules of English grammar later, I moved to England to pursue my Master’s in Strategic Marketing at the University of Sussex. I had never been abroad before, and I absorbed it all—the nuances of the English language, the love for Sunday Roasts, and the staple that is Greggs. It was one of the best decisions of my life. My cohort was a beautiful concoction of cultural cacophony. When my flatmates and I sat down for a game of Uno, everyone brought different rules (who knew you could stack a +2 on top of a +4?). We shared food from all our different countries at our large table, making it one of my fondest memories. In one semester, I was put in a group where the majority of my teammates used a translating app to communicate. It put things into perspective: language is no barrier when everyone wants a good grade in Innovation in the Creative Economy.

On the flip side, a year of being a post-graduate looking for employment tested my patience and revealed that resilience is my dominant character trait. While looking for my next marketing role, I wore many hats—(this em-dash is not AI-generated, promise). I was an inbound telemarketer, a dog walker, and a store assistant. Even when I felt like I was straying from my goal, I was constantly implementing strategic marketing in everyday life. I learned how to handle sensitive conversations over the phone with people under immense duress, managing my own emotions while listening to devastating situations. I learned client retention by managing relationships with both pet owners and the pets themselves.

In September 2024, I found my footing in marketing again as a Marketing Assistant and Community Engagement Coordinator. To be cliché, it felt like coming home. I networked with wonderful small business owners, agencies, and local councils, gaining a proper insight into the vastness of English business culture. I even had my first British Christmas "do"! By January 2025, I had given everything I could to the company and was looking to move forward to the next quest. Instead, I found myself becoming familiar with resilience again. To this day, after hundreds of cover letters and equal amounts of variations of "Thank you... but unfortunately," I find that persistence only strengthens me.

I still analyse billboards and Instagram ads through the eyes of a marketer. I still read LinkedIn, judging speculative ads and reading about how a stain on a dinner table inspired someone to change the world (or how Gen Z is ruining corporate culture—sighs in Zillennial). The gap in my career has shaped me into a person who is patient, kinder to myself, and deeply observant of consumer insights. I am more than ready to put my skills to practice oh-so-zealously.

I hope this website takes me a step closer to an organization where the culture is as good as they portray on social media—one that respects personal boundaries while pushing creative boundaries.
